Frequently Asked Questions

I am always receiving questions on the doves we use, especially after a
release at an event.  Here are the most common questions and answers.

Q-Where do they go once they are released?
A- The doves fly back to their loft at my home, where they are fed and well
cared for. (Yes, they really fly home!  And it is most common they don't even
land until they make it home).

Q- How do you train them?
A-We use rock dove, also known as homing pigeons, which have an
unknown ability to find their way home from great distances. In fact, rock
dove were used during World War I to carry messages.  All we do, is work
with their innate ability by carrying them off in gradual distances to help them
build muscle strength and learn their surroundings.  The rest is their God
given ability!  Scientists continue to study them today and many think they
have an ability to detect the earth's magnetic fields.

Q-How far can you fly your birds?
A-With proper training, these birds are capable of flying hundreds of miles;
however, I will only fly them up to approximately 30 miles.
